Students in good academic standing in the Kornberg School of Dentistry are encouraged to supplement their coursework with participation in student organizations as well as the pursuit of opportunities abroad. The following are just a few of the dental student organizations active at Temple University.

The Alumni Association also invites student organizations to apply for funding to assist with events or trips. Grants are made possible through the generous alumni who proudly support dental students making a difference both locally and abroad.

American Student Dental Association

The American Student Dental Association (ASDA) is a national, student-run organization that protects and advances the interests, rights and welfare of dental students. It introduces students to lifelong involvement in organized dentistry, and it provides advocacy, education, information, representation and services for its members. ASDA is the largest organization for dental students in the nation, with more than 14,000 members.

Dental Haiti Club

The Dental Haiti Club is a nonprofit organization comprised of students and faculty that partners with the Haitian Health Foundation to improve the health condition of the Haitian people.

Endodontic Study Club

The Endodontic Study Club aims to expand knowledge and interest in endodontics for those seeking to further their education in the specialty, as well as general practitioners who are committed to providing root canal treatment to their current and future patients.

Hispanic Dental Association

The Hispanic Dental Association promotes cultural diversity and encourages student involvement in their communities. Through volunteer opportunities, workshops and social events, members connect with classmates, community members and faculty.

Oral Surgery Honor Society

The Oral Surgery Honors Society works to expose dental students to the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Orthodontic Interest Group

The Orthodontic Interest Group provides students who are interested in the orthodontic specialty with information on residency programs, requirements and ways to prepare for the application process, as well as opportunities to expand on clinical and didactic experiences in orthodontics.

Periodontology Honor Society

The Periodontology Honor Society engages student interest in the fields of periodontology and implantology through opportunities to participate in professional study clubs, attend national conferences and engage in hands-on learning experiences.

SHALVA

SHALVA aims to create new relationships, bringing together students at the Kornberg School of Dentistry with dental professionals from all over the world, through the common goal of respecting and understanding one another across any and every dividing line.

Student National Dental Association

The Student National Dental Association encourages, promotes and supports academic and social environments for minority dental students. The association is committed to providing oral hygiene education through outreach efforts, improving access to care and the delivery of dental services to underserved communities, and increasing the presence of minorities in dental school.
