Faculty Positions

Department of Restorative Dentistry - Full Time Faculty in Comprehensive Clinical Care

The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position with a DMD, DDS (or equivalent).

Applicants must have experience in direct comprehensive patient care including treatment planning, restorative dentistry, prosthodontic treatment planning, and outcomes assessment.

Preference will be for applicants with extensive experience in digital dentistry including taking 3D impressions, design of prostheses, printing and milling. Experience in dental education including course directorship and teaching in restorative dentistry with predoctoral teaching and didactic and clinical teaching experience is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with an established didactic and clinical teaching record and/or with a current faculty position at a dental school.

Responsibilities will include didactic teaching to predoctoral and postgraduate students, provide direct supervision of comprehensive patient care in the predoctoral and postgraduate clinics, course directorship, and other administrative duties as needed. Preference will also be for applicants who can practice in intramural or extramural clinics operated by the dental school.

Pennsylvania license or eligibility for full, unrestricted licensure in PA is required. Completion of advanced training in an AEGD/GPR program is required.

AEGD Program Director

The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry is seeking applicants for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position and Program Director of the Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) Residency Program. Rank will be determined based on academic credentials.

Primary responsibilities will be directing the School's AEGD program, including the didactic and clinical curriculum and requirements to ensure ADA/CODA compliance, the operation of the clinic to ensure the highest standard of patient care, operational efficiency, fiscal health, and resident recruitment. In addition, the AEGD Program Director will also be responsible for teaching dentistry both clinically and didactically and for providing direct patient care within any clinic of the school as needed.

The 1-year AEGD program has the option of a second year as well as a master’s degree in Oral Health Sciences. The AEGD residents work in collaboration with the residents and some of the faculty in the post-doctoral specialty programs.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within or directing an AEGD or another similar residency program. Experience working with special needs patients is highly preferred.

Pennsylvania license or eligibility for full, unrestricted or teaching licensure in PA is required. A certificate from an accredited General Practice Residency or Advanced Education in General Dentistry program is also required.

Preclinical Dental Laboratory Faculty

Position: Preclinical Dental Laboratory Faculty

Position Summary:

Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry is actively seeking imaginative and forward-thinking US or Internationally educated dentists to teach full time in the preclinical dental laboratory and simulation laboratory at the clinical instructor or an appropriate professorial rank based on academic qualifications. Successful candidates for these new faculty positions will participate in the instruction, demonstration, modernization, strategic development, and delivery preclinical dental educational activities in the predoctoral DMD program. Recruited faculty will collaborate closely with course directors and technology staff to play active roles in the demonstration and evaluation of preclinical laboratory projects and in the design and implementation of innovative curricular enhancements. The ideal candidates will have a high comfort level with all aspects of general dentistry and experience teaching preclinical courses that may include restorative dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics and pedodontics. The candidate should be able to demonstrate proficiency with technology, be adaptable in learning new tools, techniques, and educational practices, and have a strong affinity for various dental educational hardware and software. Responsibilities also include: 1) collaborating with course directors and co-teaching in the preclinical dental laboratory for all DMD program lab courses, 2) developing and overseeing preclinical examinations, 3) managing logistics for student scheduling, 4) coordinating the delivery of various experiential activities for competency assessment to meet graduation requirements and accreditation standards, 5) generating and sharing grade reports for simulated examinations with faculty and course directors to determine remediation needs and 6) providing necessary assistance for remediation activities and assessments as required 7) other responsibilities as they evolve with the positions and innovation.

Reporting Structure:

The Simulation and Experiential Education faculty will report directly to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and will be appointed to the Department of Restorative Dentistry.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have a US dental degree of an international equivalent, and be proficient in all aspects of general dentistry. Prior experience in pre-clinical dental education. Strong comfort level with utilizing technology, along with the ability to quickly adapt to new technological advancements, are essential.
