Marisol Tellez is the director of the Center for Public Health and Behavioral Science Research. She is also the chair and an associate professor in the Department of Oral Health Sciences, and the graduate program director of Dental Public Health.

Dr. Tellez is an associate tenured professor in the Department of Oral Health Sciences. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Dental Public Health. She earned her degree in dentistry from the Universidad El Bosque in Bogota, Colombia, in 1998; her master’s in public health from the University of Michigan in 2001; and her doctor of philosophy in epidemiological sciences, also from the University of Michigan, in 2004. 

She was a research associate at the Detroit’s Center for Research on Oral Health Disparities. She was then an associate professor at the Dental School at Universidad El Bosque (2006–2010), and also served as Andean region academic manager at Colgate Palmolive. She moved to Temple University in 2010. 

In 2016, Dr. Tellez received training at the University of Oxford Center for Evidence Based Medicine to teach evidence-based medicine. She works intensively to promote evidence-based dental education and conducts research on the management of dental anxiety, innovative ways of delivering oral health education and evidence-based caries management and prevention.
