Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Program
The Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University offers a strong, clinically oriented Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) program focused on educating competent dentists with the clinical skills and knowledge needed to engage in dental practice. The DMD program provides access to a large and diverse patient population, which offers students rich experiences to develop as skilled oral health providers.
DMD Admissions Pathways
There are multiple entry tracks for the DMD program at Kornberg.
The traditional DMD program takes four years to complete and is designed for academically accomplished applicants who have completed at least 55 credit hours of science courses in biology, chemistry, and physics, as well as other university level courses.
The Advanced Standing Program for Internationally Trained Dentists is for students that were educated in schools outside the U.S. and Canada. These students are either accepted in the two- or three-year tracks of the DMD program, depending on their previous experiences in dentistry.
Students currently enrolled in a DMD program in the U.S. or Canada may apply to transfer into the DMD program at the Kornberg School of Dentistry.
Student Research
The Kornberg School of Dentistry deeply understands the role of research in the practice of dentistry, with seven distinct research facilities that drive innovation in the field. Research is cross-disciplinary, covering a vast spectrum of study and technology development, including behavioral dentistry, dental tissue regeneration, oral cancer and social epidemiology. The DMD program draws on the expertise of its faculty and the strength of its research program to afford students rich opportunities to conduct and present research.
