Dr. Michael Salin is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Temple University’s Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

A lifelong Philadelphian, Dr. Salin earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Temple University School of Dentistry (now the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University). He completed both his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship and his advanced specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Temple University Hospital.

Dr. Salin specializes in complex implant dentistry, with particular expertise in bone augmentation and full-arch implant reconstruction for patients with failing or failed dentition. His clinical expertise combines advanced surgical implant management with highly esthetic, restoratively driven treatment planning to restore both function and appearance. He also specializes in the surgical treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders, integrating TMJ surgery with reconstructive procedures to restore function and promote long-term joint stability.

Dr. Salin believes oral and maxillofacial surgery has the power to transform patients’ lives. He is committed not only to delivering exceptional surgical care, but also to helping patients overcome the fear and anxiety often associated with surgery while building lasting relationships founded on trust, communication, and shared decision-making.

Outside of academia, Dr. Salin is the owner of Innovative Oral Surgery & Dental Implants, a multi-office oral and maxillofacial surgery private practice serving the Greater Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Bucks region. His clinical practice focuses on advanced implant reconstruction, full-arch rehabilitation, and comprehensive oral and maxillofacial surgical care. As an active surgeon, he brings contemporary techniques, complex case experience, and real-world clinical decision-making into the education of residents and dental students.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Salin is passionate about teaching dental students and oral and maxillofacial surgery residents, with a particular focus on reconstructive and restorative implant dentistry. He is also committed to advancing surgical innovation and improving patient safety. In collaboration with colleagues at Dartmouth College, he co-developed the OsteoSmartSense Drill, a novel technology designed to enhance the safety and precision of dental implant surgeries through real-time surgical feedback.

By combining private practice, academic teaching, and surgical innovation, Dr. Salin remains committed to advancing the field of oral and maxillofacial surgery while delivering the highest standard of patient care.
