Transfer Students from other US Dental Schools

Thank you for your interest in continuing your dental education at the Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University.  Transferring between dental schools is difficult because of the structure of the curriculum and the differences in course sequencing.  The faculty and administrators will ensure that transfer students with Advanced Standing receive an appropriate curriculum that results in the same standards of competence required by students regularly enrolled in the program.

The only requests that will be considered are from current students in good academic standing at a dental school in the United States or Canada.  The Admissions process for transfer students is highly selective.  Consideration for transfer status will be given upon receipt of the following materials:

  1. Application fee - $50 money order payable to Temple University
  2. Completed Kornberg School of Dentistry transfer application
  3. Letter of intent which sets forth the reason for a transfer request
  4. Official undergraduate transcripts
  5. Official transcript of DAT scores
  6. Official dental school transcript
  7. Catalogue and course descriptions of current dental school
  8. Letter of recommendation from the Dean of the dental school
  9. Letter of recommendation from one faculty member of dental school
  10. National Board results if applicable

Following the initial review and evaluation of application credentials, applicants may be invited to interview.

Applicants seriously considered for admission will be asked to provide a detailed course outline for each professional course taken.  The outline will be analyzed by faculty to determine the extent to which the courses satisfy the dental school's requirements.

The final admission decision will be made by the Advanced Standing and Transfer Admissions Committee based upon the recommendations of the evaluating faculty, the level at which an applicant is admitted will depend upon the faculty's assessment of proficiency in the various disciplines. Baseline pre-exams maybe administered at the discretion of the course director or chairman.

A critical aspect of every decision will be the availability of space and resources.  In consideration of this fact, even highly qualified applicants may be denied admissions.

IF YOU MEET ALL QUALIFICATIONS LISTED ABOVE and wish to receive an application, please email your request to  Applications are processed from September 1 to January 15..  Applications received after January 15th will not be considered.  If you have any questions, please call the Office of Admissions and Student Services at (215) 707-2952.
