Meet Ms. Dot, Temple’s longest-tenured employee

Walk into the Kornberg School of Dentistry looking for Dorothy Johnson, a staff member in facilities management, and people know instantly for whom you’re searching. 

“Oh, you mean Ms. Dot,” a woman at the reception desk said with a smile when asked recently about Johnson. 

Johnson—better known by her colleagues and biggest fans as Ms. Dot or Ms. Dotty—has worked at Temple for 61 years after starting her first job with the university in 1957 at age 20.

Dr. Maobin Yang Awarded Tenure

Dr. Maobin Yang has obtained tenure and is now an associate professor for the Department of Endodontology. Dr. Yang is also currently director of the Postdoctoral Endodontics Program and the Regenerative Health Research Laboratory, a Diplomate of American Board of Endodontics, and an Abramson Faculty Scholar.

Dr. Santiago Orrego Bridges Engineering and Dentistry

Joining the school on the tenure track in the Department of Restorative Dentistry is Dr. Santiago Orrego. With his background in dental materials and smart materials, Dr. Orrego will start a new research program on smart dental biomaterials, allowing students to better understand the benefits of designing novel dental biomaterials that respond to stimuli and interact with body enhancing treatments and oral health. Temple Dental Rocks MOM-n-PA!

Thank you to all of our alumni and students who volunteered on May 18 and 19 with Mission of Mercy in Pennsylvania (MOM-n-PA). Each year, MOM-n-PA provides dental care at no cost to underserved populations in Pennsylvania. This year’s free clinic was located in Reading, PA and attracted almost 2,000 patients.

Temple ASDA Awarded at 2018 Annual Session

 

Students from the Temple University chapter of ASDA recently attended the 2018 Annual Session held at the Disneyland Hotel, on property at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California.
